Brother and Sister Win It All in the U14

2015 CTC Junior Club Closed – U14  |  In the past, we had siblings (brother-brother and brother-sister) winning club events in the same year. This year one pair of siblings have a unique take on history. Aleksandar (Sasa) and Danica Davidovic claimed both the singles and doubles club titles in their respective boys and girls categories and will go down in the history book as the first pair of siblings to win both the singles and doubles titles in the same age group in the same year.

Sasa faced the same opponent this year as he did in last year's under 12 singles final. He won last year's final against Steven Baumann in straight sets. This year's final once again went to three sets 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 as both players battled it out on the tennis court. In the semi-finals Davidovic easily defeated Carlos Rengifo 6-0, 6-0 and Baumann beat James Huang 6-2, 6-3. Rengifo took third placing when he out played Huang 6-1, 4-6, 10-4 in their third place match.

Incidentally, the same result happened this year between Davidovic and Baumann as it also  had happened last year in the round-robin stage. Baumann had beaten Davidovic in the round-robin match but the table was turned both times when they met again in the championship final.

Davidovic and Baumann teamed up to take the doubles crown after going undefeated in their round-robin draw. The second place went to Armandt Hediger and Michael Mo whose only loss was against the champions.

Danica Davidovic retained her under 14 singles title after being pushed hard from Inaya Halaba in the final. The match went to three sets with Halaba taking the first set 6-4 and Davidovic taking the second and third sets 7-5, 7-5. What is surprising was Davidovic did not take a single game off Halaba in their round-robin match. Halaba won that match 8-0. In the semi-finals Davidovic beat Alexandra Mandewo 6-1, 6-4, while Halaba triumphed over Dauntae Turnquest with a score 8-1.

Davidovic and her doubles partner Mandewo easily won their doubles crown by beating the team of Halaba and Turnqueset 8-1.
