Lin Jumps From Third to First in the U8

2015 CTC Junior Club Closed – U8  |  A year ago Simon Lin finished in third position behind Owen Nguyen and Arnav Bhattacharya. This time he moved into first place and became the U8 club singles champion. Lin had much going for him as he had also achieved his first ever open title just a few weeks prior at the Coquitlam Open – Future Stars Tour U8 event. Playing in the short sets final, he triumphed over Bhattacharya by taking both sets in the tie-breakers 7-4 and 8-6. In the semi-finals, Lin had a harder time taking down his opponent as compared to Bhattacharya. He was taken to three sets by Daniel Chen and he only earned his spot after winning the third set tie-break 8-6. Bhattacharya lost only one game in beating Philip Alexandru in the semi-finals. Chen took third placing when he easily defeated Alexandru 6-0.
