1 Gold, 2 Bronze + 2 Consolation Gold & 3 Silver Placings

2015 Evergreen Cup  |  The name change was necessary as this tournament is no longer a development series but a competition series level. Held during the Victoria Day long weekend since 2007, this year's tournament cruised through Friday to Monday without a single drop of rain. Unbelievable! This tournament was usually consumed by 30% to 60% of rain disruptions during the tournaments days.

Twenty-nine junior program juniors took part in this year's tournament. The best number so far and one junior came away with the ultimate victory. Dilraj Phull is still only thirteen years old, but won't turn 14 until later in the year. Phull pulled a first, winning his first open tournament title. Phull is also currently the reigning club U14 singles champion.

Unseeded in his under 14 singles event, he took the opportunity to move through to the finals when the two seeded players on his side of the draw lost early. Second seed Asvin Sankaran lost to Nelson Leung in his first match and Malcolm Sinclair, the fifth seed, lost in the quarter-finals to Tobias Baldus. Phull easily defeated Baldus 6-0, 6-0 in his semi-finals. He made no mistake in his first open singles finals when he beat Jacky Chen, the sixth seed, 6-3, 6-3 to claim victory.

The two bronze medal positions went to the two girls in the under 18 singles event. Keiko Pan, 17 years old, easily beat Linda Otamendi in her quarter-finals match, while Kimberly Woo, also 17 years old, was taken to three sets by Dolphy Pradhan. Woo won 5-7, 6-2, 6-2, but lost to the number one seed Winnie Zhuang 6-2, 6-2 in the semi-finals. Pan lost to the eventual winner Lauren Macfarlane 6-4, 6-2 in her semi-finals match.

Five juniors who lost early in the main draws made the best of their consolation draws. Second seed Alaina Ge in the U18 singles event made her way to the finals of the consolation singles but lost to Pradhan 6-3, 6-4. Last year's finalist, Riley Friend lost early. Seeded number 3, he defeated club mate Kevin Baumann 6-4, 6-4 to win his U18 consolation singles event. The top seed in the Girls U14 singles, Danica Davidovic beat her club mate Silvana Huang to claim the winner's medal in her consolation event.

Other notable results, Sidney Lin beat Cheryl Gu in her first match in the U18 singles event, but lost to Zhuang the top seed in her next match. In the boys U18 singles, two club juniors made it past their first two matches. Matthew Wong seeded eighth won both his first two matches but was stopped in the quarter-finals by the top seed Abhishek Rana, 6-4, 6-2. Seventh seed Kasra Karimi was taken to three sets in his first round match by Bobby Fu, but had no trouble disposing Daniel Chao 6-2, 6-1 in his second match. Second seed Andrew Huang prevented Karimi from moving further along by beating him in their quarter-finals match. Jeremy Arciaga and Jean Paul Pamarang both won their first round match. Aleksandar Davidovic seeded No. 7 in his boys under 12 singles won his first round match in three sets, but lost to the third seed Jona White in the next round.
