It's Not Just Tennis

Duncan Trip 2011  |  Tennis, tennis and more tennis all day long. There was certainly lots of tennis between matches on this trip. But all tennis and no fun will make this adventure a boring road trip. One thing good about this trip was the no evening matches on the grass courts. So there was much time after the day's matches were completed to get in some entertainment for our group. We did the movie route on the first night. After dinner we headed for Cowboys and Aliens, the Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford movie. The general consensus was not good. So two thumps down. On day two, it was the Aquatic Centre in downtown Duncan and then dinner after. Generally it was a fun and relax time on the water slide and wave pool. Two thumbs up. The third night was bowling then dinner at the Dog House. Not much talent and promise were shown on the bowling lanes. But any which way you had bowled, it was still a fun evening.

By the time the final day came around, nobody wanted to go home. Everyone wanted to stretch the trip as long as they can push it. So we headed for some golf at the local driving range. A couple of juniors had shown some promise under the guidance of our group golf enthusiast and coach, Terry Lowe. Okay, let us just stick to tennis. We left the driving range for some go-kart driving next door. For some of us, it was racing around the track and for some, cheering from the sidelines. Jedi won the time trial by 2 seconds. But it was I who had managed to finish ahead of everyone else despite starting in last position. Alright, I am not bragging here, let me move on. As we wrapped up the day in Duncan, it was a late lunch/early dinner at a fast food restaurant. No name here as we do not need to promote their business any further. We almost missed the ferry at Nanaimo. We were one of the last 10 vehicles or so to get on board. With everyone on the ferry heading back to Horseshoe Bay, the trip was over... or so it seemed... but that will be a story for another day. Final verdict, two thumbs way up!
