CTC Junior Club Closed – U12 | A Baumann won a club title. And the first name is not Alexander or William. Kevin Baumann is the 10 year old brother of Alexander and William. Kevin showed his two older brothers what they cannot do these past two seasons: to win a club title. This season we have a healthy crop of younger juniors who are ready to play competitively. Baumann started his competitive season last year and he won his first open tournament back in August when he won the under 10 title at the Coquitlam Junior Open challenger division level. In this under 12 club final, Baumann's opponent was Jayden Nielsen. Both players battled through the first round of round-robin matches to reach the semi-final of the main draw. Baumann received a walk over from Benjamin Loewen, while Nielsen defeated another bright club prospect Jenny Jia 6-3, 6-3. The final was a battle between these two 10 year olds. In the tightly contested first set, Baumann prevailed against Nielsen. He took the tie-breaker at 7-5. With the first set under his belt, his confidence grew in the second set and he won it convincingly. The final score was 7-6, 6-3.
