3 Bronze + 1 Consolation Silver

Coquitlam Junior Open Championships | Challenger
On Tuesday, the Champs final matches slowly gave way to the Challenger division. Ilya Tihanenok and William Baumann both reached the quarter-finals of the under 18 singles event. Tihanenok lost to the No. 4 seed Thomas Knight of Tsawwassen and top seeded player Daniel Dziarmaga of Vancouver won his match against Baumann. In the under 16 singles draw, Alexander Baumann marched through 3 rounds of competition, defeating the No. 4 and No. 5 seeded players along the way. Eventual winner and top seed Mark Nguyen of Vancouver stopped the younger Baumann in the semi-finals with a score of 6-1, 6-3. On the consolation side of the under 16 singles, Mark Linott defeated his doubles partner Ryan Sandrin in the semi-finals before losing to Port Moody's George Luca 6-3, 6-3 in the finals. 

Kevin Baumann, the youngest Baumann sibling in the tournament, reached the semi-finals of the under 10 singles event. Playing in his first tournament, he defeated Dillon Mok of Coquitlam 6-3, 6-2. Over on the girls side, Aruscke Bosch, playing in her first tournament as well, defeated Tara Mok to move into the semi-finals. The top seed Alexandra Walker lost the first set 6-4 to Bosch before taking control of the next two sets and the match.

At the end of tournament, after seven days, there was no rain interruptions! What a joy! Another record was also broken. The number of participants registered for this week long tournament rose by 10% to 148 players. Total number of matches completed was 287.
