CTC Junior Club Closed | Ilya Tihanenoks finally turned the table on
Martin Walenczykiewicz earning his first victory over his opponent in the
under 18 singles event. This Coquitlam Tennis Club junior closed final was held back until after the Coquitlam Junior Open tournament was completed. Walenczykiewicz freshed from his
victory in the Coquitlam Junior Open was expected to win this match. He had won every match between them in the last four years. This time Tihanenoks
rose to the occasion. Before the match he felt this was the time to do it before Martin leaves the junior ranks. He served consistently well throughout the match and matched Walenczykiewicz's
stroke for stroke from the baseline. With Tihanenoks
unforced errors greatly reduced, he gained confidence as the match went on. Walenczykiewicz was surprised by Tihanenoks overall consistency which put the pressure on his own game. In the end, there was no denying a
7-6, 6-3 victory for Tihanenoks.
