Beginner/Novice/Intermediate Lessons Today
The rain is messing up the schedule this week. The forecast is still calling for the rain to dry out this afternoon. Will hang on for another hour to see if we can fit in today's lessons. Next update is at 1 pm.
1 PM EDIT: The rain has stopped. We will shoot for a 2:30 pm start time and end at 4:30 pm. Please check back before you leave home as further update may be needed.

Tennis Camp D
This weather system seems to be moving through rather quickly. The rain is forecasted to taper off this morning. We may have a later start this morning and ends later as well. Will provide another update at 9 am.
9 AM EDIT: The rain is not letting up yet. Will still try to put in a couple of hours or so of camp today. Will try for a last update at 10 am. May post update before 10 am if the weather improves sooner.
10 AM EDIT: Timing is not on our side. The weather looks to be clearing within the next hour but we have to cancel the tennis camp for today. It takes an hour to squeegee the courts and let it dry up. Tomorrow is a better day, back to sunshine. Friday is up in the air. We want to do an extended tennis camp tomorrow from 9 am to 2:30 pm. Please bring your lunch as well.

7 Bronze + 1 Consolation Silver Placings
Duncan Road Trip | A small contingent of 12 juniors travelled across the Strait to Vancouver Island for our annual road trip to the oldest tennis club in Canada that plays on grass. The South Cowichan Lawn Tennis Club is situated next to Cowichan Bay, and tennis has been played there since 1887, which was only 13 years since the modern game of tennis was born. This is definitely one of the oldest lawn tennis clubs in the world.
In contrast, the All-England Club in Wimbledon was founded in 1868. Croquet was the main club activity until tennis was introduced in 1875 to its members. In 1922, the Club moved from Worple Road to larger grounds and it has remain on the Church Road site right up to the present day. The Edgbaston Archery and Lawn Tennis Society in Brimingham, England, has claimed to have the world's oldest working tennis courts. The lawn courts was initially laid out in 1873 which make it 141 years old in 2014.
Seven juniors came away with semi-final finishes in their respective events. Both Kevin and Steven Baumann teamed up to reach their under 14 doubles semi-finals. They won two matches on their way to meet the second seeded team of Sebastian Dee and Ty Mya. The seeded team proved too strong for the Baumann brothers doubles team. There was also success in the girls under 18 doubles event as well. Tiana Andjelic, 14, and Donna Labayo, 17, paired up for their doubles event, and made the semi-finals. They were beaten by the top seeded sisters team of Alexandra and Jayden Nielsen. Both Andjelic and Labayo took another defeat from the Nielsen sisters when they faced them in their respective singles under 18 semi-finals. Andjelic lost to Alexandra, the top seed, and Labayo fell to Jayden. Jayden defeated the second seed Johannah Hixson in her quarter-final match.
Alaina Ge, 14, did well in her under 16 singles event. She progressed to the semi-finals but did not advance past the second seed Sybella Garvin. Fifteen years old Riley Friend came back with his consolation runner-up medal in the boys under 18 singles event.
The juniors who had won at least their first round matches were 11 years old Steven Baumann in his under 12 singles event. His older brother, Kevin, who is 14, lost to the top seed Jacob Pallai in this second match. Matthew Wong, 15, also won through to his second match. He lost to Ryan Picken.
